The Harmonize for Speech Barbershop
Quartet performs at the 2018 CSA Conference Once again, the Canadian Stuttering Association is honoured and grateful to be assisted with a $2,000 grant from Harmonize for Speech, a privately-funded organization in Ontario that supports speech related projects and initiatives. These funds will go towards producing the annual conference, which takes place October 19, 2019.

For more than thirty years, the second week of May has been a special time for the stuttering community. It is Stuttering Awareness Week, designated by members of the National Stuttering Association and made official by Ronald Reagan in 1988. It is to encourage people who stutter to talk to others about their stuttering. To learn more about it, read this item by Stuttering is Cool creator Daniele Rossi. ISTAR is sponsoring a free screening of "When I Stutter" Sunday, June 23rd, at 2:00 at the Globe theatre in Calgary. Calgary CSA support group leaders Rhea, Achalla and Ana will also be in attendance, so that would be a great opportunity for people to meet them!

The Portland State University Stuttering Lab is offering a "Chat Retreat" for adults who stutter. The mission of the retreat is to inspire confidence and community among people who stutter. It will take place August 30 - September 2 (Labour Day Weekend) in the beautiful setting of coastal Oregon, USA.
